Acoustic Composer for Email
One of the consistently lowest performing parts of the aging marketing portfolio was the tool for building and sending emails. It also happened to be in the strategic center of product opportunities and hopes for modernizing the platform.
As the leading initiative predating the design system and overall modernization efforts, the Composer for Email was used to set the stage that allowed us to validate patterns and work backward into the rest of the systems coming together.
The original email builder was showing it’s age and was often cited as an NPS impacting negative experience particular compared to the breed of modern, intuitive, drag and drop email builders in the market.

Competitive Landscape
It was clear to see that the market direction was solidifying around the kind of intuitive non-technical interface that our Persona Krysta was looking for. In addition to doing full product tear downs, I looked at how similar workflows were carried out by our current users.

Acquisition
In the middle of the project, we left IBM via acquisition to become a standalone company. Enter the Acoustic brand and the beginning of the Decibel Design System. Acoustic Composer became the early proving ground for emerging patterns.
